Q3 Who is sahadharmani?

A3 Thishelpmate is a "property" that can never be separated from him. She isnot
meant not only to be a cook for him, not only one to give sensualgratification.
She iscalled "dharma-patni" and also "yajna-patni She hasto be with her husband
in the pursuit of dharma and has also to be a source ofencouragement in it.

As adharma patni, she has to be by his side during the performance of
sacrifices; shemust also play a supportive role in all those rituals that have
the purpose ofmaking the divine powers favourable to mankind.

It is not that she cooks forthe husband alone. She has to provide food every
day to the guests, to the sickand to the birds and beasts and other creatures.
This is how she serves thepurpose of "atithyam" and "vaisvadevam".

Q4 What is theimportance of strewing mustard seeds before sanskar?

A4 It is believed that spirits fear mustard seeds. Hence mustard seedsare
strewn around the place where the sanskar is to be performed

Q5 Is it correct that  the practice of  bridal costume is either gifted to a
Brahman or hungon a tree or in a cattle shed.?

A5 Thebridal costume is a favourite medium of attack for spirits. No spirit can
trouble a Brahman (priest). Hence, that costume is either gifted to a Brahman
or hungon a tree or in a cattle shed.

Q6 During marriage why should wifebe seated to the left of her spouse?

A6 Thewife should be seated to the left of her spouse. The left side of the
husband indicates the Chandra nadi(Moon channel). When the wife sits on the
side of the Chandra nadi, there is not much activation of energy.

In thisritual, activation of energy is undesired. It is the experience of Bliss
(Anand) that isdesired. The one on whom the sanskar(rite) is to be performed
should sit to the left of the hostess.

Another school of thought states that ‘thewife should be seated to the right
of her spouse. Consequently, there is activation of energy. This energy then
destroysthe distressing energies obstructing the ritual’.)

My note- Two days back I had taken a photograph with wife for Pension book. The
photographerasked my wife to stand on left side so that in photo she comes in
right side.

Q10 What is theimportance of worshippinfg Saptha mathrukkal at the beginning of
ceremoney?
