Pranam
   ‘Institutes of Macro Perception’.

The sun in the form of jivatma casts its rays in the form of five sense
organs on the lotus bud of sense pleasures and cause it to bloom. Or, the
king that is jivatma rides the horse of body and holds weapons in the form
of organs to conquer the sense pleasures.

     PERCEPTION IS A BROAD ASPECT CHANGING THE KARANAM AND KARTHA;
Paramatma the perceiver bird ,(Rig,Yajurvedam and upanishads) eating the
friut of desire by the Jeevathma, being perceived.

Another aspect is, that jivatma is the perceiver and that which lives in
the organs and causes the jivatma to experience pains and pleasures and
which vanishes in deep sleep is called perception.

2 (B G) Arjuna, that which arises from ignorance and immediately splits
itself into three; and whose running ceases as soon as the *perceptible is
attained, is called the ordinary perception*. Now I will tell you about the
perceptible. There are five manifestations of perceptible – sound, touch,
appearance, taste and smell. Like mango is one but it is perceived
differently by the five senses. The ears understand it by the name, the
tongue perceives it by its taste, the eyes perceive its colour, the nose
perceives its aroma and the skin perceives its feel. Thus, the perceptible
is one but because it is perceived differently by the different sense
organs, it is manifested in five different forms.

The river ceases once it merges with the ocean; walking ceases once
we reach our destination; or, the growth of a plant ceases when it bears
fruits. *Similarly, the thing where the perception that is running after
sense pleasures ends, is called perceptible.* This *triputi* is responsible
for all the karmas. The five sense subjects like sound etc are the
perceptible and it is either desirable or undesirable. Oh Arjuna, as soon
as the perceiver gets a little feel of the perceptible, the perceiver is
moved to either accept it or reject it. But like a crane going after a fish
as soon as it sees it, or like a pauper running to grab a treasure as soon
as he spots it; or, like a man wanting to have a woman as soon as he sees
her; like water always running down the slope, or a calf running towards
its mother cow; like people performing yagas to obtain the apsara
(beautiful women entertainers dwelling in the heaven) named Urvashi; or
like a peacock getting excited when clouds start thundering in the sky;{
all are kalidasan and other sanskrit scrioptures} likewise, the perceiver
jumps in as soon as he sees perceptible (sense pleasures). Hence, oh
Arjuna, the triputi of perceptible, perceiver and perception is responsible
for all the karmas. And if by chance the sense subject is liked by the
perceiver, he cannot tolerate even a moment’s delay in experiencing it. Or,
if by chance a sense subject is disliked by the perceiver, then he wants to
get rid of it immediately without any delay. When one sees a snake but
believes it to be a necklace, feels happy; but the moment he touches it and
realises that it is a snake, he immediately feels scared. Likewise, a
perceiver experiences similar feelings when he sees likeable or dislikeable
sense subjects. And then, he is prompted to act (karma arises) so as to
either accept or reject it. One who is fond of wrestling, steps down from
his chariot when he sees another wrestler before him. Similarly, when the
perceiver gets attracted to sense pleasures, he regards himself as the
doer. Like someone who is getting ready food served in his plate wanting to
prepare food himself; or like a honey bee setting out to raise a garden;
or, a philosopher’s stone becoming iron; or, gods getting up to build a
temple instead of sitting quietly in the existing temple; likewise, the
perceiver indulging sense organs becomes the doer. Thus the perceiver
becomes the doer and adopts the means to attain the perceptible.

*Footnote :*Continuing with English translation of the great Sant Shri
Dnyaneshwar’s commentary on Shrimad Bhagawad Geeta (BG) titled
Bhavarthdeepika in Marathi and commonly known in Maharashtra as Shri
Dnyaneshwari. This is the 305th post.

 *Bhagawad Geeta verse 18:18*

द्न्यानं द्न्येयं परिद्न्यात- ा त्रिविधा कर्मचोदना ।

करणं कर्म कर्तेति त्रिविध: कर्मसंग्रह- : ॥ The triputi are Karanam,karma
and karthethi.

*Literal Meaning : *The triputi (triad) of perception, perceptible
and perceiver is the motive force behind karma; and the triputi of means,
karma (action) and doer is the cause for performance of karmas.
The paradigm of the perception is also a variable. KR IRS 30722
