ANA GANA MANAWASNOIT STARTED IN THE ORIGINAL
{Question itself shows the ignorance as well as spokenagainst the truth Read
below for authentic version: K Rajaram IRS 7 8 23 } NATIONAL ANTHEM AND THE
NATIONAL SONG MUST BE DISTINGUISHED.
1 Whenever someoneplays or sings the national anthem of India, no matter
where we are, we allcome together, stand at attention, salute, and chant ‘Jana
Gana Mana’. Thenational anthem is the pride of India and Indians are proud of
it. Composed byNobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, the anthem highlights
India’s nationalheritage and demonstrates patriotism and loyalty to one’s
country. ‘Jana GanaMana’ reflects the history, traditions and composite culture
of India. It hasbeen serving as an expression of national identity since its
adoption. Thenational anthem, composed by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore,
reflectsIndia’s people and history.
2 Origin &Evolution On December 27, 1911, Rabindra Nath Tagore performed the
anthem forthe first time during a Congress meeting in Calcutta. Who would have
thoughtthat the song would one day serve as India's national anthem and a
fundamentalobligation. “Every Indian citizen has a responsibility to uphold
theConstitution's values and institutions, as well as the National Flag and
theNational Anthem’’, according to Article 51A(a) of the Indian Constitution.
Itwas again performed in the year 1941, Subhash Chandra Bose adopted a
slightlydifferent version from the original song which was called ‘Shubh Sukh
Chain’which gained popularity among the masses on August 15, 1947, Capt.
Thakuri ofthe INA was invited to perform with members of his orchestra group.
3 Significance of Tricolour inIndia's national flag explained Tagore wrote
the first anthem in Bengali‘Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata’ which later was edited and
translated as ‘Jana GanaMana’ and was adopted as the national anthem on January
24, 1950, with anannouncement by the then president Dr Rajendra Prasad. Major
Translations FirstNetaji Subhash Chandra Bose translated the national anthem
from Bengali whichhad been Sanskritised to Hindi. Captain Abid Ali provided the
Hinditranslation, and Captain Ram Singh provided the music. Later Margaret,
thegreat Irish poet James Cousin's wife and the dean of Besant
TheosophicalCollege translated it into English. Later the national anthem was
translatedinto all the 22 national languages and many regional languages
4 As being a fundamental obligation according tothe article 51A, section (a)
one has to respect the National anthem and song.Later in 1971, the National
Honour Act of 1971 section (3), was introducedwhich stated that strict
punishment will be meted out for disrespecting thenational anthem.
II vande Mataram and meaning:
5 Vande Mataram isthe national song of India. It was composed by Bankim
Chandra Chatterjee in amixture of Bengali and Sanskrit. Vande Mataram comes
from a poem from BankimChandra's 1882 novel Anandamath. The first political
occasion where it was sungwas the 1896 session of the Indian National Congress.
In 1950 (after India'sindependence), the song's first two verses were given the
official status of the "nationalsong" of the Republic of India, distinct from
the national anthemof India, Jana Gana Mana. In 2003, BBC World Service
conducted an internationalpoll to choose ten most famous songs of all time.
Around 7000 songs wereselected from all over the world. According to BBC,
people from 155countries/island voted. Vande Mataram was second in the top 10

10 On 24 January 1950, the ConstituentAssembly of India has adopted
"Vande Mataram" as national song. Onthe occasion, the first President of India,
Rajendra Prasad stated that thesong should be honoured equally with the
national anthem of India, "JanaGana Mana". However the Constitution of India
does not have any mention of"national song". The first two verses of the song
are an abstractreference to mother and motherland, they do not mention any
Hindu deity byname, unlike later verses that do mention goddesses such as
Durga. There is notime limit or circumstantial specification for the rendition
of this songunlike the national anthem "Jana Gana Mana" that specifies 52
seconds. Parts of the VandeMataram was chosen as the national song in 1937 by
the Indian National Congressas it pursued independence of India from the
British colonial rule, aftera committee consisting of Maulana Azad, Jawaharlal
Nehru, Subhash Bose, AcharyaDeva and Rabrindanath Tagore recommended the
adoption. The entire song was notselected by Hindu leaders in order to respect
the sentiments of non-Hindus, andthe gathering agreed that anyone should be
free to sing an alternate"unobjectionable song" at a national gathering if
Vande Maataram - Anode to the motherland Controversies with Vande Mataram they
do not want to singVande Mataram because they find it "objectionable" for a
personal reason.
11 Accordingto the gathered leaders, including the Nobel Laureate
Rabindranath Tagore, though the first two stanzas began with an unexceptionable
evocation of thebeauty of the motherland, in later stanzas there are references
to the Hindugoddess Durga. The Muslim League and Muhammad Ali Jinnah opposed
the song.Thereafter, with the support of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawahar Lal Nehru,
theIndian National Congress decided to adopt only the first two stanzas as
thenational song to be sung at public gatherings, and other verses that
included referencesto Durga and Lakshmi were expunged. Rajendra Prasad, who was
presiding the ConstituentAssembly on 24 January 1950, made the following
statement which was alsoadopted as the final decision on the issue:
“ The composition consisting of the words andmusic known as Jana Gana Mana is
the National Anthem of India, subject to suchalterations in the words as the
Government may authorise as occasion arises;and the song Vande Mataram, which
has played a historic part in the strugglefor Indian freedom, shall be honoured
equally with Jana Gana Mana and shallhave equal status with it. (Applause). I
hope this will satisfy the Members.—Constituent Assembly of India, Vol. XII,
24-1-1950[47]”

Q1 Why can wenot see electricity ?
A1 Sarthak Belekar, Studied ElectricalEngineering at Yeshwantrao
Chavan College of Engineering5y
There are a couplereasons you cannot directly see electricity. The first reason
is because electricity is a phenomenon, not a physical object. We observe
certain phenomena in naturethrough their interaction with physical objects
(which we can see). Take the phenomenon of gravity, forexample. You cannot
technically 'see' gravity, though, you can observe objectsthat fall to the
ground or cannonballs/projectiles that follow a trajectorysuggestive of force
'pulling' them to the earth. The same is true ofelectricity. Wecan observe
electricity's influence in nature in the same way as gravity, though, there's
one really important difference and the main reason you can'tsee it:
The fundamentalcomponents on which electricity is observed are really small,
move really fastand there's a lot of them. Thereason you can't see electricity
is the same reason you can't see an individualelectron (too small) or a bullet
fired from a gun (too fast) or accuratelyguess how many jelly beans are in
large jar (too many).
My note- Not only gravity, electricity , temperature isalso a phenomina

Most airlines do, actually. At least the larger airlines. It's quite common that
the first time youactually ever even touch the real thing is on your first
revenue OE flight. AnOE flight (operating experience) is with a check airman
who's trained tooversee your first operational flights. Smaller airlines do in

Q4 Why was'Jana Gana' chosen as our national anthem? What's the reason
behind this?
A4 Rajdeep Chakraborty, History Buff Jul12
At the time of independencetwo songs were front runners to be the national
anthem of India, and both ofthem happen to be more popular than our national
anthem or atleast I believe itto be so. Those twosongs are Vande Maataram
written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee and Sare Jaha seAccha by Md. Iqbal. But
both the songshad controversies surrounded with them unlike Jana Gana Mana.
VandeMaataram was possibly not chosen because it belongedto a controversial
novel—Anand Math, most Indians who haven’t read it fully, might think that Anand
Math is all about a revolution/agitation against theBritish. And it is mostly
true the main theme of the book is- Sannyasi soldiersfighting and beating the
experienced East India Company forces and for the samereason it was banned by
the Britishers.
But if you read itcarefully you’ll find that Muslim[The kings in particular]
have been criticizedby the author. Seems made up?
So, let us look atAnandamath, 5th edition, 1982. I am quoting verbatim from
tenth chapter, pageseventeen [ আনন্দমঠ, প্রথম খণ্ড, দশম পরিচ্ছেদ, ১৭] in
Bengali, followed by a literaltranslation (Muslims are mentioned as "Musolaman"
and"dere" (bearded men) ).
Literal Translation: The kings should protect theirkingdom, what does our
Muslim rulers do? We are getting stripped off ourreligion, honor, family and
now we are going to loose our lives as well. If wedon't get rid of these drunk
bearded men, how the Hindu's can be Hindusanymore?[ You can verify the
translation by asking other Bengalis here likeAhareen Saha|অঋণ সাহা ]
While I don’tbelieve that Ananda Math was an Anti Muslim novel, but again at
the time ofindependence the country was in turmoil and our founding fathers
found itbetter to play it safe.
While Sare Jaha se Accha was indeed a good song but theauthor of the same song
Md Iqbal- later became a Pakistani Nationalist, he is highly revered figure in
Pakistan and is considered as one of themasterminds of partition[ Mohammad
Iqbal: The Founding Father of Pakistan
] [ Explained:Allama Iqbal and his role in the creation of Pakistan] and that
is why choosinga song written by a man who played a great role in the partition
of the countryas a national anthem was never a wise decision.
Compared tothe other two-Jana Gana Mana was less controversial—it was written
byRabindranath Tagore, one of the most respected figure in modern India and
thefirst Indian to receive a Nobel prize.
While there aresome people who still believe that he wrote that anthem for King
George [ Ihave already written an answer earlier debunking the popular myth ]
but it wasnever a big issue back then and that’s why our founding fathers found
Jana GanaMana to be a better option than the former two.
Other than itJana Gana Mana was was language neutral - using just a string of
names of India'smajor regions and had no religious connotations.
