Quora answers need not be 100% correct answers .Compiled and posted byR. Gopala krishnan, on 18-10-2023 Q1 When Mahabharata was fought, was Krishna the king of Dwaraka? A1 Chaitanya Kulkarni, The one who knows;when ppl quote "whoknows?"!7y No! Krishna was the prince and commander of the Armies of Dwaraka, whileBalarama was crown prince and de facto administrator as, King Ugrasena was still the emperorof Dwaraka, but reigned over mathura. (Source: wikipedia and loads and loads ofstories I read about the epic battle!) Since he wascommander of the great army of Yadavas -Duryodhan reached out toKrishna to seek allegiance when war became inevitable. Forthose who don't know what happend next... Duryodhan reached firstand found Krishna asleep , so he waited right beside bed. Shortly arrived Arjuna, and he too waited for Krishna to wake up. Krishna when woke up ; he(strategically) happend to notice Arjuna first and then Duryodhan. To them,Krishna said - Both of you have come andboth of you are asking for the same thing, so let me put it this way. One of you can have myarmy, another can have me. But I won’t fight, I’lljust accompany you in war. Because my vision fell upon Arjuna first, he getsthe first choice.” Duryodhana protested, “I came here first!” Krishna said,“But what can I do? I saw him first.” Wise Arjuna chose Krishna while -Duryodhan happily choseYadav army! This mistake cost Duryodhan dearly... And the rest is history ! My note- I have raised a doubt about Krishna granting army to Duryodhana, what power he said so, if Ugrasena was king ofDwaraka in yesterday’ s QA. No I got the answer- Krishna was commander of the army. Q2 Why is "Chenni Malai" in TamilNadu renamed as "Yesu Malai"? Is it the beginning of "SanatanaOzhippu" as said by the DMK Minister? A2 Gautham Sampath,Knows Tamil23h Chenni Malai is not renamed as “Yesu Malai”.It's not relatedto DMK also. Let me explain. After goingthrough various sources, I understood that Chennai Malai houses a Murugan Temple on it's top. The speciality of Chennai Malai is that Sundarvalli and Amirthavalli whowere the sisters did penance here to marry Murugan and later they were born asDeivayanai and Valli and they marry Murugan. Also this temple is saidto be built by Cholas 1000 years ago. Also there are nearly 24 Thirthas on this hill and thefamous Tamil song KandaShasti Kavasam is said to have been Sunday here by the saint Arunagirinathar. It's a famous temple fordevotees in Kongu Nadu as it's situated in Erode. One more famous thing thatyou can see is everyday a bull climbs itself accompanied by two men carryingmilk pots for Murugan in this 1320 step hill. The reason for the protestof the devotees of the temple was just because of the talks of a pastor that hewill rename this temple to “Yesu Malai” or Jesus Hill or as “Kalvali Malai”. It's said a Christianmissionary group was trying to convert many people around this region and whenthey were , the Hindu members hit them. Because of which theChristian pastor had arranged a protest and in front of his people the pastor spoke that he willchange the name of the hill to Yesu Malai and thus this bought anger among thedevottees and Hindu Members of the region. Thus the devotees organizeda protest to arrest that pastor. The temple is safe andeverything is fine and it's a talk of the pastor that has created theseprotests otherwise all good. People have everything under control! My note- I have added this QA for the fact a bullclimbs 1320 steps with milk for abhishekam in this temple. Q5 Is it true that Pluto has never completedan orbit since its discovery? ⚪️🔄? A5 Euterpe Muse,Jul 15 Absolutely! This is due to the immense length of Pluto's orbit. In order to complete a single revolution around the Sun,Pluto embarks on a staggering journey spanning over 30 billion kilometers! By comparison, Earth's orbit measures a mere 900 million kilometers, makingit approximately 40 times smaller in scale. Also, Pluto's distant locationfrom the Sun causes it to move at a slower pace. Thegravitational pull it experiences is considerably weaker, contributing to itsleisurely movement. Pluto maintains an averagespeed of around 16,000 km/h, while Earth soars at approximately107,000 km/h, making it over 6 times faster in its orbital journey. Interestingly, the discovery of Pluto came relativelylate. It wasn't until 1930, a remarkable 93 years ago, that humanity first encountered this celestial wanderer. Its small size and vast distance from Earth made its detection achallenging endeavor. Considering that Pluto'sorbital period spans 248 Earth years, it will not revisit its original positionat the time of its discovery for at least another 155 years.
