Q1         Doctors who quit medicine, why? How didyou manage it and what are
you doing now?

A1          Gopalkrishna Vishwanath,69, and inreasonably good health so far.
Wish me luck for the future.10h

I am not a doctorbut I know a doctor who quit practicing medicine after about
10 years.

He investedinherited money and set up a shop selling medical supplies, hospital
medicalequipment, orthopedic aids, instruments like blood pressure measuring
devices,Oxygen level indicators, water beds, adult diapers, and stuff like that
inaddition to the medicines sold in chemist shops. He supplies to
nearbyhospitals, nursing homes and also the general public.

He seemed to bedoing well when I last met him.

Since he himselfhas been a doctor, he is able to relate well to the people in
hospitals andnursing homes who deal with purchases. He is also able to discuss
competentlywith the manufacturers of all his medical equipment and supplies.

My note-There are many doctors in political field, cine field etc. Similarly
there are many persons studied law in political, cine, and as Buildingcompanies
owner etc.

Q2         Why do cabin crews who do turnaroundflights bring luggage despite
coming back to their original city at the end ofthe day?

Susan Brown,FormerFlight Attendant/ Recruiter Dec 30

It's a part of our uniform. Also, rules and regulations that we have to follow.
Usually, we have heavymanuals in those small carry-on luggage. However, lately,
more and moreairlines are going from paper books to giving their crew work
phones. All the manuals and trainingmaterials are on our phones now. No need
for large books. Other thantraining manuals we haveour service shoes in these
luggages. Most airlines have two differentkinds of shoes for their crew. One
pair of shoes that we wear when we go to theairport and during boarding. Thenwe
have a 2nd pair of shoes that we change into when we do our meal service. The
2nd pair is more comfy. When it's time to land we change to the 1st pair
ofshoes. Also, a lot of the crewincluding myself have extra pairs of shirts and
stockings in those smallcarry-on luggage. Dealing with food and drink can
easily stain ourshirts. And let's not talk about annoying stockings that often
rip. We have our makeup bag in those bagstoo. We have to bring those small
carry-on luggage. We have a lot that we have to havein those bags, regardless
if it’s a turnaround or not. So there area lot of reasons why crew have to
bring those luggage with them.

Q2         What scary facts do scientists knowthat the public doesn’t know
about?

A2          Silk Road, Dec 8

Did you knowthat there are millions of tiny creatures living on your face right
now?

They call them Demodex mites, and they are microscopic arachnids that feed on
your skin oils and dead cells.

They have eightlegs, needle-like mouthparts, and no anus. Yes, you heard me
right.

They don't poop. Instead, they store their wasteinside their bodies until they
die and explode, releasing their contents ontoyour skin.

Sounds gross, right? Well, it gets worse.

Thesemites are not harmless. They can cause skin problems like rosacea, acne,
andblepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids).

They can alsotransmit bacteria and viruses that can infect your eyes and cause
blindness. And the worst part is, youcan't get rid of them.

They are part of your normal flora, and they havebeen living on humans for
millions of years. You probably inherited them from your parents, and you will
pass them on toyour children.

So, thenext time you look in the mirror, remember that you are not alone. You
havemillions of tiny roommates that are eating your face and waiting to explode.

How's that for a scary fact?

Q3         Are the wealth and armies described inRamayana and Mahabharata
exaggerated?

A3          Ram Abloh, Hindu, studied Veda (incl.Upanishads), Vedanta, Gita11h

This is my personal opinion.Others may disagree.

All works of poetry do have some exaggeration.Otherwise, they wouldn’t evoke
any sublime Rasas in us. They would just be anewspaper report.

The Rāmāyana andMahābhārata are both Itihāsas and Kāvyas. Vālmīki is called the
Ādikavi (first poet). Veda Vyāsa iscalled the Vedakavi (the poet who also
edited the Vedic canon).

So, these twogreat works contain a very wonderful blend of real history and
exquisite poetry.Hence, it is wise to assume a certain degree of
poeticexaggeration.

Wealth and armies are purely material aspects. So,quantifying them as extremely
large is a poetic licence to create the desiredVibhāvas, Sthāyibhāvas and
Vyabhicāribhāvas to produce the desired Rasānubhava.

However, it is also known from history that ancient India was generally a
wealthyand populous region since the earliest times. So, wealth and armieswould
generally be in large quantities, as attested by many foreign travellers.

Q4         What are the best doctor jokes you'veever encountered, heard, or
cracked?

A4          Steve Savage, Updated Dec 24

A man goes to hisdoctor for a routine checkup.

The doctor tellsthe man to drop his pants and shorts so he can check his
prostate.

The doctor inserts his finger in the man’s anus andpronounces that everything
appears to be A-okay.

The man asks thedoctor if he wouldn’t mind inserting another finger.

“Why do you want me to do that?” asks the doctor.

“Because I think I’d like a second opinion.” says the man.
