CULTURAL QA 01202409 Q2 What scary facts do scientists know that the public doesn’t know about?
Did you know that there are millions of tiny creatures living on your face right now? KR Silk Rd may not say in depth so…..IT IS NOT SCARY AT ALL, RATHER HELPS; ALL WILL HAVE IT . THEY DO FUNCTION ONLY IN THE NIGHT AND ALLERGIC TO ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT. The microscopic eight-legged mites are carried by almost every human. Passed on to us during birth, their numbers peak in adulthood as our pores grow larger. Thankfully, since they’re only 0.3 millimetres long they’re too small to be seen with the naked eye; this is very fortunate for us, since living in and on hair follicles apparently also includes our eyelashes. ESTIMATE ONLY AROUND 1.5 TO 2.5 MILLION AROUND THE PORUS OF THE FACE SKIN. The mites’ isolated existence inside our pores has resulted in a lack of exposure to any external threats, zero competition to infest hosts, and no encounters with other mites containing different genes. A shrinking genome also explains why the mites only become active at night: they’ve lost the genes that make it possible to protect against ultraviolet (UV) radiation and to be awakened by daylight. Not only that, but they’re unable to produce melatonin. While melatonin usually makes small invertebrates (animals without a spine) active at night, the mites fuel their all-night mating sessions using the melatonin secreted by human skin at night. “Mites have been blamed for a lot of things. The long association with humans might suggest that they also could have simple but important beneficial roles, for example, in keeping the pores in our face unplugged,” says co-lead author Dr Henk Braig, a researcher from the school of Natural Sciences at Bangor University in the UK and the National University of San Juan in Argentina. ----------------------------------- Q3 Are the wealth and armies described in Ramayana and Mahabharata exaggerated? KR Poetic licence and exaggerations are urchin kind of thinking. The outsiders had spoken authentically like ON GREECE by E. POECOCKE, the settlements and naming of their places in eastern Greece, by people who migrated after the Mahabharatha war. Parsis settlement in UAE present, is written authentically by many west authors. Suppose there were only, say a population of 10000, after the war when all were dead, why should the left cross north India towards west viz a few hundred? And > 100 cities are named parallel to Indian names and can any one imagine a couple of people only living in each city? Why would people from far off places participate in a home war? The West can talk anything; but not……And regarding Ramayanam, the major army consisted of Gorillas of human forms; and animals, like monkeys were also only in small numbers and Rama crossed a small rivulet with stones across? OK; assuming but not admitting, how do the writer prove that it is exaggerations and poetic licence? Does he have data? Wealth is a measure in times; in the past; present and the future. In my time I had seen, if I possessed a big note of Rs 100, my friends used to call me so rich; and that is the fact also; My Grandma had then one big colourful king crowned stamped Rs 1000 note. My aunt used to say GrandMa is s o rich. But today even one lakh is not the kind of richness. So having a fractal of today's wealth, could have been that of the prince then. Wealth and Army stated by one who lived around the historical date, cannot be foolishly questioned, with the surmises. ----------------------------------------------------KR IRS 10124 On Tue, 9 Jan 2024 at 18:34, 'gopala krishnan' via Thatha_Patty < [email protected]> wrote: > *CULTURAL QA 01-2024-09* > > *All the BELOW QA are from Quora digest to me on 09-01-2024.* > > * Quora answers need not be 100% correct answers * > > *.Compiled* *and posted by R.
