It's interesting to me how hardcore DC and Marvel fans have been feeling in recent years.  Terry and I talk about this a lot.

It seems that people who are Marvel fans at their core are fed up with Marvel and deriving more enjoyment from DC comics right now.  Whereas, people who are DC fans at their core are fed up with DC and deriving more entertainment from Marvel right now.  Sort of the "grass is greener" philosophy for both types of fans.

From a DC guy's perspective, I'm not thrilled with the direction DC is headed.  Sure there are some great comics out there (Green Lantern, Blackest Night, and others), but in general DC is only retreading "classic" characters rather than focusing on creating new ones.  For me, I'm thrilled with the big shake-ups Marvel has been doing since Civil War.  It's probably because I'm not as invested in Marvel's continuity that I'm enjoying the major changes.

Wow!

I just hope that doesn't distract Johns from continuing to crank out
amazing comics. I have never been much of a DC fan, but Johns has me
reading all the Green Lantern stuff (in issues) and buying his JSA and
Superman runs plus LEGION OF 3 WORLDS (in hardcovers). I'm planning
to get the Flash Rebirth hardcover when it comes out, too-- even
though I have never had any interest in the Flash-- just because of
Johns.

Basically, DC is getting the money I am saving by boycotting all the
crap Marvel has been shoveling out lately (ie anything Bendis has his
fingers in).
