I have a friend with a cheap phone plan that does this with SMS- it
regularly sends him ads that have the same ringtone/notification sound as
any other SMS, insuring you'll at least glance at them. I agree that it'll
happen eventually, there's just too much pressure to improve revenue for
them not to.
