Question for the group: is it safe to use Isohunt?

Let me give you some background for my question. I used to use
Isohunt pretty regularly to get TV shows my wife and I missed (before
we had On Demand) or to get Doctor Who episodes (as we don't get BBC
America). Then a few months ago, every single time I would go to the
site, I would end up with a virus on my machine. Not from a file I
downloaded, but from a trojan on the site itself (I am guessing in the
advertising). I mean, every single time. So I simply stopped going
to the site.

Thanks to a conversation with Shag off-group, I find myself wanting to
get a torrent file I used to have but apparently deleted. But
obviously I am leery.

At the time this started I was using McAffee Anti-Virus 2010 which was
up-to-date. Now I am using Microsoft Essentials, as McAffee 2010 was
just horrible. I was constantly dealing with viruses and whatnot, and
it got to the point where it couldn't fix my machine anymore --
problems which Essentials fixed the first time I ran it.

So, will I be safe to log on to Isohunt? Is there a safer
alternative? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
