Regarding Showgirls, yeah, it's pretty damn awful. My brother loves
that movie on an ironic level but that's about it, heh.

I have loved Robocop from the first time I saw it when I was 6. Yeah
you read that right. Saw it in the theater, even, on a double feature
with Predator. That night helped shaped my life, frankly. I can see
your point about the heavy handedness and gore. But to me those add
to the overall experience. Robocop is a superhero movie but its
filtered through the conceit of ultraviolence and the context 80s
hyper yuppie-dom. And as someone who loves the 80s, and capitalism,
and 80s capitalism it speaks to me. Plus it works very strongly on a
pure action-adventure level.

In any event, I am going to go see Green Lantern on Saturday, with a
bunch of my nerd friends. Either way should be a fun experience!
