I catch maybe one episode of The Simpsons a season. Its a far cry
from what the show was back in the "glory days," but it has its
moments still. Clearly the show remains profitable for Fox or else
they would have simply cancelled it. There have been similar dustups
with the cast in the past. One time I recall Fox specifically saying
they could get soundalikes and no one would notice.

The Simpsons is still an important anchor show for Fox, especially now
that football season is going on -- Simpsons acts as the lead-in to
their Sunday night, post-football animated block, which, oddly, now
seems to only feature Our Favorite Family and then Shows Made By Seth
MacFarlane.

I can't imagine that the cast and crew at The Simpsons has anything
left they have to prove or accomplish with this show. They made a
feature length movie and it was a success for crying out loud!
