Well, my wife and nephew saw the movie with me and I would consider them Star Trek newbies, even though they've seen all season of TNG, and they liked the movie. Devon saw Wrath of Khan with me a few years back but he didn't remember it that well. I believe you are not the only one. I read a review on io9 that totally trashed the movie. I realized that all the reworkings of this movie were bits of previous stories but I had no problem with that because I knew the continuity had been reworked since the first movie. I'm sure there are tons of Star Trek fans who hated the movie and I may be in the minority.
