I had the same experiences. Comcast gives MacAfee away free to subscribers, but it brought my PCs to a grinding halt when scanning and missed more than a few things other scanners would flag. I used AVG fora while, but MSE seemed to work better. Much happier as a resident of the Evil Empire, though; even if Win8 hadn't looked like old school AOL start pages.
