It appears either you DVD CD drive has gone bad, or the CD is scratched or
marred in some way.  Try polishing the disc with denatured alcohol and a
very soft cloth rubbing in small circular motions...
or put the disk in a desktop DVD-RW CD-RW drive and copy it there, then use
the copy in the thinkpad.  Sometimes the fresh copy works better than the
original.

You might also try cleaning the Thinkpad CD Drive with compressed
difluoroethane gas (dust off, but do not touch the lense with ANYTHING...

Does the Thinkpad drive read other CD's ?
