FWIW, I have two LaCie external hard drives (500 GB and 1 TB) and both of them have Seagate drives inside. But they could use other makes in mobile drives. And they could possibly use several makes for the same product. You only get to know it once you connect the drive to your computer (it's not written anywhere on the box or even inside the box). > Can anybody confirm from experience that this drive will start and run > with just a USB cable connected to a T43? I don't see why it wouldn't. If the drive inside is a Seagate, you can use the free Seagate DiscWizard software, which is a scaled-down version of Acronis TrueImage (best of breed IMO): http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?locale=en-US&name=DiscWizard&vgnextoid=d9fd4a3cdde5c010VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD If you wish, you can upgrade from DiscWizard to TrueImage at a discount: http://www.acronis.com/promo/seagate/ Cheers, Dominique _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad
