trouble setting this mailing list subscription up - hope this works...
Hi everyone. I just bought an extra x31 + ultrabase on ebay. It was sold
as defective with no error explanation. Thought I could get it going,
but alas... =(
Problem is it wont recognize power input. same goes for the ultrabase,
so im thinking psu probably burnt one intake, and then the guy i bought
it from, tried the other one and fried that one as well. He had some
"lame" excuse for not including the psu in the sale, as he would use it
for his new pc, but im thinking it was fried and he knew it.
The psu I am using now is working, as I use it for my primary x31 but it
wont turn the ebay one on, with or without battery inserted. However if
i take my freshly charged battery from my working x31, the ebay one
comes on and seems to work flawlessly. Same goes for inserting battery
in the ultrabase, or letting it power from the laptop. All works. It
just wont take power from psu , which in effect makes both devices useless.
So what I really need is help for a verdict: Strip the parts that can be
reused, or is there any solution to make either device working again? I
have no soldering experience, but wouldnt be afraid to give it a try, as
the alternative is worse, I think..
Any input/ideas would be appreciated...
