Hmm, a reboot fixed the headset. I did wonder if it was doing something like
what you described.thanks.

Can't disable just the touchpad in Device Manager. Now after reboot, Fn does
wake it up again, and the touchpad was not enabled. Go figure. Windoze, *sigh*.

That's not actually stereo. That indicates that the left contact (which I
assume doesn't work when the plug is all the way in) is broken off the
motherboard. Pulling it out halfway makes the ground float so the right signal
goes through both phones.

For touchpad, see if it can be disabled in Device Manager. I wonder if software
disables it on boot, but doesn't have a sleep trap to disable it after sleep,
and the driver automatically reenables it...

Hm, Fn is how I've always woken machines from sleep AFAICR. Might be the
senility kicking in.

Touchpad is disabled in software only.

I just noticed that my headset plug is also wonky: suddenly I have to pull it
out a bit to get it to be stereo. That makes NO sense to me, seems physical.
Maybe it's possessed.

Did Fn ever wake it? In my experience, that's the only key that won't wake a
machine from sleep. Can't comment on Touchpad being re-enabled. Is it disabled
in BIOS or software controls?

Recently both my wife's and my Thinkpads (T61, T500) are doing strange things:

- touchpad often re-enabled after resume from suspend (both machines)
- my T61 won't wake up from suspend with Fn, though the power button works

Anyone else seen this? I'm assuming it's some Windows update, but???
