If you are good with your hands and tools, look on eBay for a Thinkpad T42,
T41 or T43 with a broken screen reported working otherwise... You will see
them sometimes for $60 to $130. Then use your parts to fix that one,or move
the motherboard, cpu, and cooling system to yours.  They type number may be
different, and Windows may detect the change and require a Windows XP
repair, but luck should be very high.

Also, you will find eBay sellers that sell guaranteed boards... You have to
be ready to install such a board very quickly as the warranties are only 7
to 10 days.
