Thinkpad used to have a superb parts delivery system in Europe.  I do not
know if Lenovo continued it.

But even though the price will be higher, and most fans are generic, I would
get the replacement fan from Lenovo Thinkpad because it is of such
importance in the X61.

Fans by various manufacturers utilize power in a variety of ways.  You don't
want to put your X61 to the stress of a fan that eats a lot of power.

Also, you have a chance of getting a better fan, if other fan problems have
been reported during warranty to the Lenovo folks.
