Hello,

This occurs after the POST completes but before an operating system
loads, so I do not think it is related to any Microsoft-related
software on the computer.  The behavior is the same when I boot from
a Ubuntu CD.

What does Microsoft say?  I wonder if they limit the scan at POST to speed
up the boot process?
