First of all you have to set the BIOS to boot FIRST from the CD.
Second, I seem to recall something about a 600 won't boot or recover from a
DVD drive, but that's way deep in the cobwebs in the attic.

Subject: [Thinkpad] ThinkPad 600 Optical Drive
Hi
I have been trying frantically for days to get a linux distro on my 600.
I took out the original cd drive as it wouldnt even pick up a Windows cd.
So I popped in a dvd drive.
I am wondering what is up with my machine as it still has troubles
booting. Sometimes it will pick up the disc and sometimes it will boot
fully, other times it will boot to a point and then stop.
I am trying to boot the WattOS cd which I burnt earlier on my wifes pc. I
have tried to boot it about 10 times. Every time it picks up cd but only 3
times has it booted successfully.
Is it the machine? Is it the drive? Is it the disc?
Simon
