Check that the little switch that shuts off the screen when you close the
LCD is not sticking

Subject: [Thinkpad] T43 screen out, China support befuddled!
The unit in question is a T43 2687-D4U with the x300 video processor,
running XP, 1 gb RAM, 15" Flexview screen
About two weeks ago, the screen went dark. I fussed with it and it
came back on (fussing=Fn F4)and it came back on for about 10 minutes,
successive efforts over the next hour or so yielded steadily declining
intervals of "screen on".
I am in southern China with a IWS warranty, brought it to Lenovo (they
have a repair center here, I have used them before with some success).
They have now had it 11 days, have made several repairs (I THINK the
inverter and the backlight, can't be sure as they did not give me the
part number and the translation doesn't work out too well). It now
seems that they haven't a clue what to do.
My options:
1) Let them continue to learn as they go
2) But a cheap external monitor (the external monitor access does work)
3) Pack it up and take it to Hong Kong (2 hours) and rely on their
abilities
4) Continue using the borrowed x60 and wait till I get back to the US
in five weeks.
Any ideas what might be ailing my computer
