I know the "s" is a better machine, but I have been selling T400s (not "S") retail for $750.
The hit is quite real

Subject: [Thinkpad] T410s base model

Last week I set up a customer's T410s. Very nice machine, but it was around $2800 with upgrades and docking station. I configured one for myself, just the base model, the only additions are:

4 gigs RAM in 2 DIMMs
5-1 Media Card Reader
Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 (3x3 AGN)

Cost comes to $1286.90 with an employee discount.

That is quite reasonable for a new high end laptop. I figure I can upgrade to a SSD in a few months, and upgrade to 8 gigs of RAM when prices come down on the 4 gig sticks.

Seem reasonable? Am I missing anything with the base model vs. the "Enhanced" or "Elite" models?

Also I have read a couple of reviews saying the standard LCD is terrible. The one I saw this week looked quite nice?
