OK, figured it out. Posting what happened in the hope that it can save someone else some time in the future.
In an attempt to overcome problems reinstalling Adobe Creative Suite 4, Adobe's instructions involved shutting down a number of services. Restarting them fixed the wireless radio issue. I didn't go back and turn them on individually to see which was the offender, but it was one of them. -Dan Galender -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Dan Galender Sent: Sunday, June 06, 2010 4:31 PM To: ThinkPad Mailing List Subject: [Thinkpad] Problem Maanging Wireless Radio I'm running Windows 7 (64bit) on a T61p. I recently "lost" the ability to do searches from the search box (like if I typed "calc", it wouldn't find the calculator application, it just displayed some generic entries like "files"). I don't know if some recently installed software caused this (and it happened once before and is becoming a real annoyance), but I went and reinstalled Windows 7 to get everything working again. When I reinstalled Access Connections and go to "Manage Wireless Radio.", though, only the 802.11 Wireless and Bluetooth radios show up and not the Verizon Wireless WAN (which I do use). All 3 did show up in my previous Windows 7 (64bit) installation, but not in this latest. I am able to use the Verizon Wireless Mobile Broadband connection, but I can't manage (power it on and off) it any more. Anyone have any thoughts on getting it to show up? Thanks. -Dan Galender _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad
