You set the compapibility mode in the thinkpad to ide mode and install
Windows.  Then you get the sata drivers once its up and running.  You
cannot avoid sata.  The alternative which I've never had work is get a
driver floppy and when the Windows CD tells you to his Fwhatever to
load a driver, feed it that floppy.
