Speaking of aspect ratios...

My preferred aspect ratio is definitely 4:3, though I happily make an
exception for 1900x1200 widescreen.  The 'HD' resolutions that
manufacturers have been pushing (in my opinion, strictly for cost saving
reasons and the cachet of 'HD') are ridiculously useless resolutions
given the max vertical they offer (1080).  Why would you want to get a
screen that is no wider than typical resolutions but is shorter
(1920x1080 'HD' versus 1920x1200 'normal')??  That's a step backwards. 
A computer is NOT an movie viewer!  I guess I could live with the
wide/short HD format easier if the vertical was 1200 or higher.
