Thanks for that blunt but to the point reply.
So 256MB is the max. If you put more in than that the BIOS will say 256MB and 
then the OS will not boot.
So, unless I can get a 196MB stick from Japan then 196MB is going to be the 
best I can get out of it. I don't fancy removing the onboard memory.
Believe it or not Windows XP Home with SP3 runs very well on only 196MB RAM. It 
is quite amazing to see. For simple surfing, emailing and listening to music it 
is a great little machine.

I think I might be better of spending my money on an internal Mini-PCI card, so 
I can save the PCMCIA slot for something else, like my USB 2 card.
