According to ThinkWiki 
(http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Unofficial_maximum_memory_specs) the maximum 
memory for the Thinkpad 240X is 256mb because the 
chipset cannot handle more than that. I have a Thinkpad 240 (2609-31U, 366Mhz 
cpu) that is running Windows 2000 very nicely with 320mb memory (onboard 64 
+ 256 pc-100 low density). It makes a great netbook for checking email and 
lite web surfing.
