It's nice that my landlord put in free wireless, but he really
doesn't know what he's doing. The worst problem I had
wasn't the T23 itself, but the fact he had the antenna on
it pointing out the window! Pointing it inwards helped a
lot. Unfortunately I couldn't get him to place it higher
(that would involve building a mount or shelf); it still
sits on the edge of his dresser.

Another problem was that the slots for the cards
on my Thinkpad was on the opposite side from
the direction of the router. Much improvement was
gained by one of those D-Link USB adapters with a
cord that connects the USB plug to the unit. I can
place the cord around the back of the laptop and
point the actual receiver right at the antenna. This
type of adapter has actually gotten bad reviews for
having that cord and not being a simple card.
