My company-provided T61 had the backlight go out last fall; I sent it away and they fixed it. But it quickly dimmed to the point where it was unusable in anything other than low indoor light. As it was nearing the end of the three-year warranty, I called and got a case number. Good thing, as I managed not to find a window to send it away until after the warranty expired.
But I sent it away last Monday and it returned Wednesday with a nice, bright screen and a new keyboard. The only thing I wish they'd done differently was to read my note, where I'd written in red NOT to ship it back before Wednesday, as I was out of town until Thursday. Fortunately my wife happened to be home when UPS came, so there wasn't a missed delivery.
