Wifie bought her Acer in Bangkok which works superbly but came of course with pirate WXP home version. Now she's getting WGA nag screens and they are becoming more insistent every time she logs on.
She'd be pleased to buy a real WXP (maybe Pro like the version on my T43) (in fact thought that was what she was getting when she bought the Acer). Questions: (1) What should she buy on ebay? I see discs that came with Dell etc. Are they installable on different vendor? Or have to buy something else and if so how specified? (2) How does one do the install to preserve her profiles and not wipe all the data on the drive? (3) Gotchas?
