You could try a repair:  Add/Remove Programs, Change (on the MS Office 2010 
entry), then pick repair.

When done, reboot, then apply the patches.

Contrary to Steve Andre', I haven't had any problems with Office.  And with all 
the security GPOs we run here, that in itself is a miracle.
