I've used Thunderbird email for years. Suddenly I can no longer connect to the server (sympatico.ca). I can still get mail through other mail programs, but I always preferred TBird. The sympatico techies tried in vain for a couple of hours to solve the problem. It won't connect to send or receive. all my folders except "Junk" and "Trash" are empty. I had numerous personal and business messages saved. "sent" and "personal" folders" ... all blank.
