All I can do is tell you what settings I use. It may be useful for you
to enable logging and note any messages in TB's Error Console.
My settings are;
Webmail 1.3.2. In webmail options POP is port 110, enabled at start up
and SMTP is port 25 also enabled at start up I'm not using IMAP, so this
is disabled. If you're using any type of Linux OS (including MAC) the
port numbers need to be above 1024, for Windows the defaults work fine.
Yahoo Add on 1.4.3. Mode is Beta (The matching new interface is selected
on Yahoo mail's web site). POP, I have mark as read checked. Advanced;
use short ID and re-use HTTP session data are selected.
The settings in Thunderbird for the Yahoo account are;
Server, Localhost port 110 (must match the port number in the main
webmail add on).
Username, my full Yahoo address. Thunderbird has a habit of only putting
that part of the address before the @ here, when setting an account up
you need to override this.
Security, Never
Outgoing server, Webmail Yahoo Localhost.
Settings for outgoing server are;
Description, Webmail Yahoo. You don't have to put a description in, but
if you have more than one webmail account set up it's useful to be able
to tell them apart.
Name, Localhost.
Port 25 (must match the port number in the main webmail add on).
Security, Use username and password selected.
Username, full email address.
Use secure connection, No.
I don't use the Hotmail extension any more since they allowed direct POP
access, but as I recall the account and server settings were much the
same as Yahoo.
If this doesn't work, I would suggest clearing the messages in the error
console and deleting or moving any existing logs created by the
extensions. Then making one attempt to download mail so as to create a
fresh set of error messages and logs relating to just this one attempt
to download. Save the logs and note the error messages so as to be able
to send them to Webmail Author if requested. If you wish, you can edit
out any instances of your password contained in the logs before sending
them.
If all your settings are correct, then it may be that your firewall or
other security software is interfering with the operation of the
extensions. To those who understand these things, the error console and
logs will show this.
