This Is NOT Recomended for People Who Want to
A) Keep Their tens of thousands of emails, which are only stored in the
Hotmail Folder on Thunderbird, as a result of 5 years of emails using
emails as they will All be deleted, as the Hotmail Web Site Only Has the
last Few Months emails received (Unless You Pay for better account).
If You Do Want to do what has been suggested bellow, It Would Be Vital
You First:-
Create a New Folder, in Thunderbird LOCAL FOLDERs say Called "Old Hotmail"
Go To Hotmail Inbox in Thunderbird.
Hold Down "ctrl" then also Press "A"
All your maybe 10s of thousands of emails in the Hotmail Box will be
highlighted.
Whilst all still highlighted, do a Rightclick, on any of the highlighted
emails, then select "Copy" to Locate the new local folders - Hotmail old.
Now if you delete the account, you wont lose 5 years of emails, which
would be stupid.
Other may want to do the same with the Hotmail out in Thunderbird, and
back them up, unless you are on premium account and always been.
B) Hotmail appear to have taken away the option to turn off the option
to disable junk filtering so you will have o check hotmail on the
internet 5 times a day, as Microsoft randomly put emails every day into
your online junkbox, even identical to emails you keep marking as NOT
JUNK in Hotmail Site,
The Only Ways To Access these Folders emails, is by
a) On Website Hotmail.
b) Using Webmail Hotmail Plugin
c) Using Microsoft Email Client, maybe along side Thunderbird, just to
get Hotmail.
A Better Alternative to deleting the Webmail Account, with all its
Precious Data, if this is only a temporary glitch in fixing the Hotmail
Extension, would be to do the following:
a) Go To Accounts and Set up for Webmail Hotmail Not To Check
Automatically for emails, until Extension Fix is fixed.
b) Create a new account, with the below settings for POP Yahoo, as They
Can Both Be Present on Thunderbird at same time.
c) DO NOT ALLOW TO CONNECT WHEN IT SAYS FINISHED, BUT CANCEL GETTING MAIL.
d) Go into New Hotmail POP email set up, and set to Leave as unread and
dont delete on deletion, etc.
e) Now Download, and you will have your emails in the folder.
f) You can copy and paste to folders if needed, and hope extension fixed
soon.

I followed a link posted on this forum and got Thunderbird working

First I removed the webmail and hotmail add-ons
Then I deleted my hotmail account and then added it again using
Tools - Account Settings - Account actions (right at bottom left) -
add mail account
It now works Great
