Peter, Not knowing you wiki, we cannot be sure. I think you might have some of your buttons from some plugins? You could backup your wiki and try to import my .json file. Then you should be able to select the buttons from controlpanel -Appearance-Toolbars.
If you want to export you tiddlers go to $:/AdvancedSearch filter tab. Search for the tiddlers you want and click on the Export tiddlers button. Chose export as .json.
