Birthe, thanks for the suggestion. I agree it isn't worth spending effort on. I 
have enabled the button "close all" for when I have a number of tiddlers open, 
and that is sufficient. If there is just 1 tiddler open I'll click the X. 
Either way, I am condemned to at least 1 click, and that's OK.
