TW already has [img x="" y=""[tiddlerName]] for image and [ext[https://xxx]] for external link handling. ... BUT ... those elements are "hardcoded". So they can only do 1 thing. [type[alias|?]] would also have a "hardcoded" type element. eg: [mention[alias|?]] or [participiant[alias|?]] ... I'm not really happy about the limited possibilities.
