What is TiddlyWiki? [1]
TiddlyWiki is a complete wiki in a single HTML file. It contains the
entire text of the wiki, and all the JavaScript, CSS and HTML goodness
to be able to display it, and let you edit it or search it - without
needing a server. Although, having said that, there are some fine
ServerSide adaptations out there.

TiddlyWiki is published under an OpenSourceLicense [2] and maintained
by a busy Community of independent developers.
====

Is TW open Source?
Yes: see [3]
UnaMesa [4] is a non-profit organisation that owns and holds the IPR
for TiddlyWiki in trust for the public.
====

"how much open source TiddlyWiki is?"
:) hihi. very much.
In my opinion, TiddlyWiki is 100% open source.

Since TW is designed to be extended by plugins, every plugin author is
free to decide which license she/he want to use.

Common plugin licenses are (incomplete list):

  * BSD Open Source license [2]
  * CC Creative Commons [5] all variations
  * MIT The MIT License [6]
  * some plugins are Public Domain
  * some plugins user there own Copyright notice.
====

"do you need only one file to run Tiddlywiki?"
primary: yes. see [1]
But due to browser implementations, for some browsers a
TiddlySaver.jar [7] file is needed to save content back to a local
html file.
IE and Firefox don't need this file. "WebKit" browsers like Chrome,
Safari, ... do need it. (please correct me, if I am wrong here)
TiddlySaver.jar needs to be in the same directory than the TiddlWiki
html file.
