Since I use FF portable - when I customized it how I prefer it I literally 
copied the same instance to both locations and it uses FF sync so even the 
personal data remains the same.
I don't use chrome at all, use opera ONLY when I need to test something 
(rarely) and avoid ie like the plague that I consider it to be.

Since there is distance involved and I cannot re-test it for some days yet, I 
did this one first and...:

As instructed, this is in it:

// make it so you can by default see edit controls via http
config.options.chkHttpReadOnly = false;
window.readOnly = false; 
// make sure of it (for tw 2.2)
window.showBackstage = true; 
// show backstage too

In a few days I'll know if that cures the difficulty for sure.
