I've just been playing around with a different approach. It's not sufficient, but I think might be helpful. I've added a new segment to both the view and edit templates that flags TWC tiddlers, and provides a button to "upgrade" them. Right now that just means flicking the type field to "text/vnd.tiddlywiki". Now, we would also need a way to do this to multiple tiddlers in bulk. And the upgrade process needs to involve passing the text of the tiddler through a macro that massages the content - to begin with just doubling up the newlines would simplify the subsequent manual work.
