It wouldn't be easy to pull out the search functionality without the
advanced search ellipsis. For the moment I've instead added a "standard"
tab to advanced search:

Yes, I wonder about that too. The problem is that it would mean that a
search in the advanced search tiddler would also be reflected in the
sidebar.
