Yes, an improved manual importer makes total sense.
The problem here is, though, that we're not having or wanting multiple 
wikis.
At the end of the day, you want one wiki all share.

So, perhaps, for a minimalist multi-user environment,
there need to be two masters...

   - a *master wiki*
      - this is where all edits end are merged into
   - a *master editor*
      - the one who merges all commits into it
