I like the idea. I'd envision it slightly differently though... more in the sense of those CornellNotes.
In some "tiddler sidebar" you can add qualified references of different (predefined) types by... - pressing the corresponding icon to create a new one - ctrl+click on the icon to look for and associate an existing tiddler - dragging an existing tiddler onto the corresponding icon "Related tiddlers" are this displayed grouped by type whereas types have self-explanatory iconography.
