I hadn't looked at it closely, but that seems like a rather complex way to do it. I just set the story top position equal to the width of my top bar. Sometimes a tiddler will open and the bottom of the top bar will be even with the top of the text in the tiddler title but that is it. I don't think going with something as complex as he has is worth it in my case, particularly if it can potentially introduce other unwanted behaviour.
