Hi Mat Using a tabbed table of contents in the control panel is a common pattern in desktop software, and an interesting idea to explore.
You're not seeing any child tiddlers because they are not defined as the toc macro requires. For example, the entry "Appearance" is stored in the tiddler "$:/core/ui/ControlPanel/Appearance", but of course there are no tiddlers that are tagged "$:/core/ui/ControlPanel/Appearance".
