I wanted this too. The hurdle is, most of the core tabs lists links.
However I suspect that there could be a mechanism involving the LinkCatcher
Widget. There was no examples given in the tiddlywiki.com, so I never
figured out how to use it. In the end I doubt if it can be achieved without
modifying all core tabs and creating a template for all user created tabs.
I would be happy to be proven wrong.

This can be achieved as usual, I have not kept most of the tabs native -so
something like
.tc-sidebar-lists .tc-tab-buttons button {font-size:20px !important}
will get you what you want.
