As another StackExchange regular (already signed up on Area51), just to note on the "vision discussions and such things" - the SE model also has "chatrooms" and allows for "events"...
http://chat.stackexchange.com/?tab=events&sort=event&host=stackexchange.com ...which allows for this sort of thing (to some extent) within the SE "ecosystem". The TeX.SE group is pretty handy with this sort of thing I think this is a great idea, would *definitely* enhance my use of TW5, and probably has other unforeseen benefits as well.
