Just mentioning that it is also possible in android. You can add to homescreen, change icon and it will behave like an app in everything that matters, including having a separate window, appearing in switch-between-apps.
With the latest update, even the links originating from such a window will open in the same window. This is particularly useful in Tiddlyserver.
