I'll throw in my 2 cents... I've never encountered a typing speed issue. I'm a fast typist and I primarily use a MacBookPro with Chrome browser. My primary TiddlyWiki is 88.7 megs. I use TW5 with node.js, however if I save it to a single .html file, although the launch is slow, I notice no lag when typing. As Mark S. commented, it probably depends on your platform (hardware and software). I also serve my node.js version frequently from a Raspberry Pi B+ with no lag!
